This page is fully self-contained so you can save it as a single file and share it with others. Once downloaded, it runs without internet access.

How to save for offline use (underway/deployed): open this page, use your browser's "Save Page As" or "Share → Save to Files" option. Choose Save as Webpage, Complete when available so everything works properly, then open Navy BCA Tools Offline Mode.html (the default filename) from your Files app or file manager.

Mobile shortcut: download the fully embedded single-file version here so you can long-press and save it directly on your device.

Offline tip: The offline bundle may run slightly behind the live site while new calculators and generators are being updated.

About the Navy Body Composition Assessment (BCA)

The Navy Body Composition Assessment (BCA) is a critical component of the Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) that all Sailors must complete. This calculator implements the official two-step BCA process outlined in Guide-4 (December 2025).

How the Navy BCA Works

The updated BCA procedures consist of a two-step process:

  • Step 1 - Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR): This measurement indicates body fat distribution, particularly visceral fat, which is related to health risks such as heart disease, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. If your WHtR is ≤ 0.5499, you pass Step 1 and are Within Standards.
  • Step 2 - Body Composition Calculation: If you don't pass Step 1, your body fat percentage is estimated using height, waist, and weight measurements. Maximum allowable body fat is 26% for males and 36% for females.

Measurement Guidelines

  • Height: Measured without shoes, rounded UP to nearest ½ inch
  • Weight: In Navy PTU/OPTU, rounded to nearest pound
  • Waist: Measured at umbilicus (bellybutton), tape parallel to deck, rounded DOWN to nearest ½ inch

Important Notes

  • Official BCA measurements can only be conducted by certified CFL/ACFLs
  • BCA must be completed within 45 days of, but not less than 24 hours prior to, participation in the PRT
  • BCA retests are not authorized
  • This calculator is for unofficial planning purposes only
